Veronica Roth's ability to makes us experience Tris' life as our own and forget about everything else, surpasses all human understanding. 'Insurgent' is bound to make you escape from reality and live in a whole new and dangerous society.
When I finished 'Divergent' I had this enormous feeling that the author was trying to kill me by making me wonder what was going to happen in the next book. Well, that feeling is now intensified by 100000.
Filled with action, surprises, heartbreaking moments and deaths, 'Insurgent' brings a whole new perspective to the 'Divergent' world. In this book we get to see Tris' growth from a Dauntless initiate to a full on war machine with nothing to lose except her own life.
There were some new additions, when it comes to characters and also some old faces showed up to make their contribution to this amazing story, and not all of them end up making it to the end.
Actually this is someting that I very much enjoy about Veronica Roth, she's not afraid of taking chances when it comes to killing characters or changing them to the point of which you will be flabbergasted. This fact though, in my opinion, enriches the book, mostly because it diverges (AH!) from most YA books that we are used to. This author will always catch you off guard.
When it comes to the plot itself, it was simply amazing. I absolutely enjoyed seeing Tris' evolution, and the way her relationship with Tobias (Four) changes into something more real, other than the commom young adult love story, made me change my opinion on their relation (on the previous book I was a little concerned that they fell for eachother a little too fast).
We also get to see a little bit of a more sensitive side to Tris in the way that she refuses to use guns due to a previous situation that scarred her (seriously go read 'Divergent') which to me shows that even the most brave can still fear.
The way this book ended though... Sweet Jesus, it was AMAZING. I will need 'Alllegiant' like right now, but I'll have to wait around 3 weeks to get it. My heart cannot take this but I will try to survive.
